- Format: 8 weeks, 2 hours per class, in-person, small group (4-6 students)
- Location: Clubhouse, 2720 Bristlecone Trl, Raleigh, NC 27603
- Schedule: Fridays, 10 AM–12 PM

🎨 Weekly Breakdown

- Week 1: Watercolor Basics & Animal Forms
Get to know your materials—paper, brushes, pigments, and palettes. Learn core techniques like wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and dry brush. We’ll also explore basic animal face structure and shadow placement to build form.

- Week 2: Brush Strokes & Fur Textures
Practice different types of strokes for painting short fur, long fur, and whiskers. You'll paint a simple animal face using light and shadow to create volume—with a focus on brush control and softness.

- Week 3: Understanding Color – Part 1
Explore primary, secondary, and complementary colors. Learn to mix clean colors, avoid muddiness, and build beautiful animal palettes. Start building your own color chart.

- Week 4: Understanding Color – Part 2
Learn how to choose cohesive colors for your animal paintings. Play with subtle tones in fur, background washes, and color temperature to create harmony and mood.

- Week 5–7: Full Animal Portraits
Each week, complete a finished animal painting from a reference photo. We’ll focus on one new subject per week—dogs, cats, bunnies, and more—using the techniques you’ve learned. Sketches and reference photos are provided.

- Week 8: Final Project
Paint your own fur family with guidance and feedback from Sherry

I created Fur, Whiskers & Watercolor to help animal lovers like you connect with your creativity, even if you’re just starting out.My favorite thing to paint? The animalnality — that perfect mix of fluff, attitude, and soul that makes your pet truly yours. Whether it’s a sassy cat or a goofy dog, we’ll capture it one joyful brushstroke at a time.When I’m not painting, you’ll find me sipping green tea, walking under trees, or teaching Mandarin to kids who light up my week.

Answer:
Nope! This class is designed for absolute beginners. If you've never picked up a brush before, you’re in the right place. I’ll guide you step by step, and you’ll be amazed by what you can create.

Q2: What if I want to paint my own pet?
Answer:
That’s wonderful! If you’d like to paint your own pet, just email me a clear photo after registering. I’ll help guide you so you feel confident capturing their unique personality — or as I call it, their animalnality

Q3: What materials do I need to bring?
Answer:
You’ll receive a detailed supply list after registration. I’ll explain everything in class, so no need to stress. You’re also welcome to bring supplies you already have — I’ll help you make the most of them!

Q4: I’m nervous — what if I’m not “good at art”?
Answer:
Totally normal! This class is about the joy of painting, not perfection. I’ll guide you step by step in a warm, encouraging space — and you’ll be surprised how much you can do with the right support.

Q5: Can kids take this class?
Answer:
This class is designed for adults and teens age 18 and up. If you're looking for a class for younger children, feel free to email me — I offer family-friendly watercolor sessions too!

Q6: What if I have to miss a class?
Answer:
Life happens! If you miss a session, I’ll email you a recap and tips to catch up at home. If you're worried about missing more than one class, feel free to check in with me before registering.

Q7: How do I pay for the class?
Answer:
Once you register via email, I’ll send you payment instructions. I accept Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle — whichever is easiest for you.

Q8: Where is the class held?
Answer:
Classes are held in person at the beautiful clubhouse of Aloré Pine Apartments. It’s a cozy, welcoming space that’s perfect for creativity. free coffee for everyone!
